For All That You're Going To Do

"This God--his way is perfect, the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him" (Psalm 18:30 ESV).

"He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me" (Psalm 18:19 ESV).

David repeatedly described the Lord as his ROCK and his SALVATION and his STRONGHOLD. And with good reason! God saved David's life many times when Saul planned his murder.

I serve this same God that David praised. I read how candid David was with God, and it reminds me that I can be this open, too--that I don't have to act like everything is organized and smoothed out and...finished.

Life on this earth is not perfect, nor can it ever be. So often, I keep looking for perfection, for some sort of arrival. But I'll be waiting forever...until it's finished.

And by that, I mean: until Christ returns to complete the Great Rescue Plan. If it's perfect down here and we have all the luxury that we can imagine and our bills are paid two weeks before they're due and our cars never break, well--

Why do we need Jesus?

To begin his sermon yesterday, our pastor read a headline from a newspaper published in every single state of the nation. There were two or three that were just down right silly and made us laugh, but all the others were like a positive pregnancy test that foretells the future--really, the continual--birthing of pure evil. I know we as humans want to believe that we're generally good, but the Bible says that we are nothing but sinful apart from Christ (Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:8), and it bleeds through those headlines.

Now that you're frowning, I do have a point to this doom and gloom!

In Christ, there is no doom and gloom. He has a purpose in all things, and even things that don't go according to plan, He will find a way to be glorified in them. Because "This God--his way is perfect." When this earth is not perfect, He is. When relationships are not perfect, He is. When expectations are trampled, He is perfect.

When I can't see past this day, He is perfect.

I don't normally, but I am praising God for what He is going to do. Because I know that He loves me and that He is my ROCK and my SALVATION and my STRONGHOLD.

And I wait for His rescue.

Peace of Christ to you,
