What It's All About

"Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly."
Romans 12:15 (ESV)

What does genuine love look like?
What does brotherly affection look like?
What does rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep look like?

Christ-like love envelopes people, it consumes them. It isn't enough to say, "I'm praying for you." No, Christ-like love goes further than that. It's inviting others into your home for a meal, or just to talk. It's offering your couch up for the night. It's laughing with them when things are wonderful...And it's crying with them when things aren't.

God is teaching me a lot about what it really means to be on His team--what that means for me and for my family. Sometimes we are called to share our food. Sometimes we are called to share our time. Sometimes we are called to share our talents...Sometimes we are called to invite others to be a part of our family.

Christ-like love. This is the mark of the true Christian. I pray that one day I may be found with these marks.

That's what it's all about.

Peace of Christ to you,
Cara
